Spurred on by the success of the Doctoral GERAS Workshop since its launch back in 2011, the organising committee has decided to continue this initiative for the 45th GERAS Symposium which will take place on March 2024, at ZHAW Angewandte Linguistik (Winterthur, Switzerland). The Doctoral GERAS Workshop will take place on March 21, 2024.
This workshop is in accordance with the GERAS values. The GERAS, Groupe d’Étude et de Recherche en Anglais de Spécialité ("English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Study and Research Group"), is a French research association whose main goals are to promote research in the field of English for Specific Purposes and to provide a forum for ESP teachers and researchers to meet and exchange ideas.
This workshop offers ESP Ph.D. students the possibility to present and discuss, receive feedback, and exchange comments and views on their doctoral research by an attentive audience of pairs and researchers, including their PhD supervisors. Each presentation lasts for 20 minutes and is followed by a Q&A session. The questions can cover practical or methodological aspects of the research undertaken, as well as those related to scientific publication or in anticipation of a PhD defence.
A round-table concludes this workshop. It is led by a teacher-researcher from GERAS and provides an opportunity for students to engage in discussions about their PhD journey and its prospects, either in academic or professional fields. Participants are invited to submit questions and suggest topics that they would like to see addressed during this time.
Please consult the call for papers and submit your proposal on this website (see the menu on the left).
